FrSky's new ACCESS protocol
25 Мар 2019, 13:11What is FrSky ACCESS?
ACCESS is the latest protocol developed by FrSky to improve the performance and reliability of RC control and telemetry communications.
Based on the well-known ACCST protocol, ACCESS offers new features such as Smart Share, Smart Match and Trio Control. Model sharing has never been easier. Once a receiver is linked to a radio unit, it can be linked to another unit at any time without accessing the bind button on the receiver. Upgrading has also been simplified, you no longer need to physically connect your receivers to upgrade. In addition, new tools such as spectrum analyzer and power meter are now available on your transmitter.
Key features and functions
- Enhanced performance with faster data rates and lower latency
- Supports 24 wideband channels
- Increased data rate and lower latency
- 8 channel mode: 11ms latency / 40% faster transmission speed to receiver / 60% faster feedback speed (telemetry)
- 16 channel mode: 14-23ms delay / receiver transmission speed increased by 40% / feedback (telemetry) speed increased by 60%
- 24-channel mode: delay 14-23ms / speed of transmission to the receiver increased by 40%
- More convenient M2M (Multi to Multi) technology
- Wireless tethering, updates and configuration. The need to access the receiver for tethering, updates and configuration is eliminated as this procedure is now done wirelessly. Wireless tethering makes it even easier to share your quadcopter with other FrSky users(Smart Share function). In case of competition flying, it is convenient to bind two identical transmitters at once and thus have a spare one ready for use in case of need.
- Automatic linking(Smart Match function). You can easily tether your models without using the button on the receiver. And dual transmitter and receiver certification makes the tethering process safer than ever before.
- Channel Reassignment. Have you ever plugged in and installed a receiver only to find out everything is connected to the wrong input? Now you can simply reassign the channel order on your transmitter
- Controlled Telemetry(Trio Control feature). You can set up telemetry on one transmitter for 3 receivers at the same time. You no longer need to use STK tools and Smart Port allows you to use third-party I/O devices with pass-through mode
- More reliability and security - anti-jamming and tampering system
- Allows radio equipment to be used as a spectrum analyzer. Now you can use your transmitter to monitor radio waves that may be affecting your signal strength. The spectrum analyzer allows the user to measure power, noise and frequency distortion around.
- Allows radio equipment to act as a power meter. RF power of external devices can be measured with this new feature.
- Advanced encryption algorithm
Official FrSky Questions and Answers
Q: Can I upgrade previous FrSky products to ACCESS firmware?
A: All FrSky transmitters can be upgraded to ACCESS protocol. Support for X, XM, RX, GX and S series receivers will be gradually added to the list of supported receivers.
Q: Are there any differences between the old and new products when using the ACCESS protocol?
A: Yes. Some new features such as "power measurement" have been developed and optimized specifically for the new FrSky transmitters (e.g. Taranis X-Lite Pro). When it comes to wireless performance, the new upgraded RF module is designed specifically to utilize the new ACCESS protocol. This will provide better connectivity than with the standard module
Q: What bandwidth will the new ACCESS protocol support?
Answer: FrSky ACCESS protocol will be used for both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz operating frequencies with differences in performance. It will also work in conjunction with new dual frequency receivers and modules to be released later this year
Q: Does the ACCESS protocol support rollback to ACCST?
A: No, this is a one-way upgrade
