FrSky's new ACCESS protocol

FrSky's new ACCESS protocol

What is FrSky ACCESS?

ACCESS is the latest protocol developed by FrSky to improve the performance and reliability of RC control and telemetry communications.

Based on the well-known ACCST protocol, ACCESS offers new features such as Smart Share, Smart Match and Trio Control. Model sharing has never been easier. Once a receiver is linked to a radio unit, it can be linked to another unit at any time without accessing the bind button on the receiver. Upgrading has also been simplified, you no longer need to physically connect your receivers to upgrade. In addition, new tools such as spectrum analyzer and power meter are now available on your transmitter.

Key features and functions

Official FrSky Questions and Answers

Q: Can I upgrade previous FrSky products to ACCESS firmware?
A: All FrSky transmitters can be upgraded to ACCESS protocol. Support for X, XM, RX, GX and S series receivers will be gradually added to the list of supported receivers.

Q: Are there any differences between the old and new products when using the ACCESS protocol?
A: Yes. Some new features such as "power measurement" have been developed and optimized specifically for the new FrSky transmitters (e.g. Taranis X-Lite Pro). When it comes to wireless performance, the new upgraded RF module is designed specifically to utilize the new ACCESS protocol. This will provide better connectivity than with the standard module

Q: What bandwidth will the new ACCESS protocol support?
Answer: FrSky ACCESS protocol will be used for both 900 MHz and 2.4 GHz operating frequencies with differences in performance. It will also work in conjunction with new dual frequency receivers and modules to be released later this year

Q: Does the ACCESS protocol support rollback to ACCST?
A: No, this is a one-way upgrade
