Read moreTheTBS Diamond is a partially directional antenna for better signal penetration from your transmitter.
Given the problems and experiences with previous versions of the antenna, TBS turned to Video Aerial Systems and IBCrazy to create the perfect antenna.
By studying the durability of the TBS Triumph antenna housing, a highly durable housing was created for the TBS Diamond.
The new antennas utilize partial signal directivity, this unique feature allows for a larger range when flying in front of you, but still maintains a strong connection to the drone when flying behind you. The antenna uses the ground you are standing on to reflect and therefore amplify your signal compared to what traditional antennas can handle.
Developer Alex "IBCrazy" Greve comments:
"Some pilots were suddenly losing contact with the drone at random points in time. I investigated 4 cases and found that all losses occurred at the same relative azimuth. It was obvious that conductive ground was causing zero between azimuth 0-5 and 15-20 degrees. It turned out that the signal problems were not due to the use of the TBS Crossfire transmitter, but rather the problem was caused by the ground the pilots were standing on.
To fix this, I designed an antenna that would not only resist the ground, but also track the signal along the ground when flying at low altitude. This required a balanced closed loop structure. The result was the TBS Diamond antenna!"
