A true constant 3.8" pitch across the propeller blade gives a sense of linear control while achieving high speeds. Aggressive blade flex helps maximize thrust and efficiency. Increased blade thickness at the base of the propeller improves durability and increases the natural frequency of the blade, which in turn minimizes unnecessary vibration.
Using a special polycarbonate alloy, the Avan Long Range weighs only 4.6g. Most of the weight is concentrated at the base of the propeller, creating a low level of inertia (14.4g/cm2), which in turn improves responsiveness during flight.
The Avan Long Range propeller was designed from the ground up, starting with calculations of RPM, airspeed and thrust required. From these figures, performance was predicted and the design of the blade shape began.
A curved airfoil is used to achieve high lift coefficients at high angles of attack. Curved airfoils provide excellent maneuverability of the quadrocopter. To achieve high durability, a special polycarbonate compound is used in the manufacture of the propeller. This material is incredibly strong and malleable to resist destruction under strong impacts.
