FPV goggles

FPV goggles display video from the quadcopter’s camera right in front of the pilot’s eyes. During flight, there’s no need to look at a separate monitor or keep it in your field of view. The drone’s camera transmits the image, and the pilot controls the drone using the FPV feed.

The goggles are secured to the head, so your hands remain free for the controls. A lot depends on the specific model here. You’ll start to notice the weight and fit fairly quickly if the flight goes on for a while.

There’s one more thing you should check before buying. FPV goggles must be compatible with the video system installed on the quadcopter. The video transmitter and the goggles must support the same signal type. Otherwise, you simply won’t be able to connect them to the drone.

When evaluating image quality, don’t just look at the numbers in the specs. Display resolution and field of view are important. During a normal flight, the difference between models may not be very noticeable. At high speeds, however, it becomes apparent.

Some models come with a DVR. The goggles can record the FPV video onto a memory card so you can review the footage later or save a specific clip.
