Recommendations
To use the programmer, you need to perform the following steps:
Download and install the drivers, which can be found on the official website of the microcontroller manufacturers.
Download and install the development and programming environment:
if you are interested in in-circuit debugging of the STM8 microcontroller, use ST Visual Develop - STVD (version 4.1.0 or newer)
if you are interested in in-circuit programming of STM8 microcontroller, use ST Visual Program - STVP (version 3.1.0 or newer).
if you are interested in STM32 microcontroller programming and debugging, you can use the following programs: IAR toolset EWARM (version 5.30 or later), Atollic toolset TrueSTUDIO (version 1.0 or later), Keil toolset ARM-MDK (version 3.3 or later), TASKING or utilities downloaded from official sites
Connect the programmer to the PC. Connect directly to the computer's USB port. When you connect the programmer, the PC OS will detect the device and drivers by itself, provided that you have installed the drivers beforehand. If the automatic installation of drivers has not started, start it manually through the OS Hardware Manager.
Before starting programming or debugging it is necessary to run and configure the software for the programmer. The software is compatible with Win 2000, WIN 2003, Win XP, WIN 2008, WIN 7, WIN Vista, WIN 8, WIN 10 (32-bit and 64-bit).
Connect the device to be programmed to the programmer. Use a four-core cable with BLS-1 connectors at both ends (the cable is included in the package).
The ST-LINK V2 USB programmer has a ten-pin connector for BLS connectors (the distance between the pins is 2.54 mm). Three working interfaces of the programmer: JTAG (Joint Test Action Group), SWIM (Single Wire Interface Module) and SWD (Serial Wire Debug).
