TheTinySA handheld spectrum analyzer is available in two versions, Ultra and Ultra+ ZS40, and is used to measure the amplitude as well as display electrical signals depending on frequency. It can recognize a range of up to 5.3 GHz (in the Ultra model) and up to 7.3 GHz (in the updated Ultra+ ZS40 model), which is impressive! It is equipped with a 4.0-inch capacitive color display that is capable of displaying the full crossover frequency range at 450 scan points. The device also offers two main modes of operation: standard and ultra, and has a number of useful options, such as a variable bandpass filter and a step input attenuator. It comes with a rechargeable battery that provides up to two hours of portable operation. Setup is quick and easy. In addition, the developers and the user community are quite active in supporting this project, so the firmware for the analyzer is often updated. TinySA has an affordable price, which is attractive not only for amateurs but also for use in specialized programs.
It is important to note that the maximum input signal level is limited to +6dBm, so it is recommended to use an attenuator in case of uncertainty about the input signal!
When not in use as spectrum analyzers, the TinySA Ultra and Ultra+ ZS40 can be used as a signal generator for sinusoidal or rectangular waveforms. The device is fully compatible with a PC via USB cable and has a built-in auto-diagnostic and self-calibration function using the internal signal generator.
Features
4-inch color touchscreen display with up to 450 dots for continuous scanning of the entire frequency range
Spectrum analyzer with extended frequency coverage: Ultra: up to 6 GHz (in Ultra mode), Ultra+ ZS407: up to 7.3 GHz, with improved operation up to 900 MHz in normal mode
Improved signal generator: Ultra+ ZS407 supports sinusoidal signals up to 900MHz and rectangular signals up to 6.3GHz, expanding test capabilities
Reduced DANL degradation in the high frequency range: only 5dB above 5GHz (vs. 10dB in the previous model), which provides more accurate measurements at high frequencies
Improved phase noise: -100dBn/Hz at 10kHz offset (previously -92dBn/Hz), which positively affects signal quality
Extended internal LNA gain: up to 7.3GHz instead of 4GHz, which improves sensitivity when working with low-level signals
Variable resolution filter bandwidth: 200Hz to 850kHz for high spectral detail
MicroSD memory card slot for storing measurements, settings, and screenshots
Input signal pitch attenuator from 0dB to 31dB (cannot be used in combination with an LNA)
Built-in calibration signal generator used to automatically self-test and calibrate the (low) input signal
Can be used as a computer-controlled spectrum analyzer or signal generator (when connected to a computer via USB)
The Ultra+ ZS407 has a 5000mAh battery, which extends the battery life compared to the Ultra's 3000mAh (provides at least 2 hours of portable use)
