Double the antenna = more range. One of the biggest features of the Double AXII antenna is the unique combination of two antenna elements into one high-gain antenna network. Through precision manufacturing and fine tuning, each Double AXII antenna is able to more than double the gain of a standard AXII 2 antenna from 2.2dBi to an incredible 4.7dBi! This means you can fly farther or over obstacles and still have a clear FPV video signal.
High Gain + Omnidirectional. High gain antennas are nothing new. You can find many patch antennas that will provide high gain, but the downside is that they are extremely directional. This means that they only work well in the direction they point. The Double AXII 2 antenna is omnidirectional, which means it works 360 degrees around you. You can fly forward, backward, or sideways and still have the same great reception.
Better at receiving or transmitting? The Lumenier Double AXII 2 antenna can work for both receiving and transmitting, but in most cases it is best suited as a receiving antenna because of the nature of the pattern. The higher gain gives you much more range in the "donut" shaped pattern, but has some nulls directly above/below the antenna and some small nulls around the 50 degree areas. When using the Double AXII 2 as a receiving antenna and vertically oriented, it has a great signal around you at a 32 degree angle. By placing the antenna on your aircraft's transmitter, at a certain tilt you may encounter antenna null areas, which is why the Double AXII 2 is usually best used as a receiving antenna.
